Martha Norman Sullivan is from Newport News, VA. She has been singing most of her life. As a young child, she would jam out with her hairbrush in her own bedroom as she listened to her brother, guitarist Al Norman, learning the licks of Jimmy Hendricks, Stevie Ray Vaughan among others. She began her professional singing at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, in the German show. She then audition for a spot in the Opryland USA show park in Nashville, TN. Out of a nationwide audition search of over 35,000, Martha landed a lead vocalist role in one of the top shows. She spent three summers there while also recording demos in local studios. During the off season in Nashville, Martha performed variety shows aboard cruise ships. She traveled all through Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean. She then moved to New York with her Nashville roommate to pursue singing. She was selected to be the main vocalist at a singing club as well as studio singing. Martha moved to Los Angeles, CA for rehearsals for a cabaret. While in LA, she was a regular showcase at the Roxy. She stayed busy as a studio and jingle singer. She then came home to VA, met her future husband, Joe Sullivan, and formed the Blues Cats with her brother Al. Martha now resides in Richmond VA, has two children, and continues her career with the Blues Cats and singing jingles. Her influences are any singers that rock or relax with passion.
