Martha Sullivan Vocals The Blues Cats

Name:  Gary Thon
Instrument:  Keyboards (organ, piano, synthesizer), vocals
What got him into music:  seeing the Beatles perform on the “Ed Sullivan Show”

Biggest influences:  John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Gary’s dad (Walter- played bugle and trumpet in Drum & Bugle Corp.)

Started playing music:  Gary started playing trumpet in elementary school and continued through most of high school, as a member of the school band.  Later, after gaining interest in bands popular in the 60’s such as Dave Clark Five, The Animals, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Gary talked his dad into buying him an Ace-Tone organ, like the ones used in these bands.  He has been playing keyboards exclusively since then.

Joined the Blues Cats in Feb ’08.

Some current favorite musical artists: Chris Cain, Steely Dan, and (still) Eric Clapton, and Bonnie Riat.
Gary has been extremely versatile in the types of music he has played:  country, pop, rock and blues, but blues is without a doubt his first and foremost love.
