Al Norman is from Newport News, Va and has been playing the guitar since age 9. He spent most of his early years woodsheding to guitarist like Hendrix, Trower, Beck and Clapton. Most of his early years were dedicated to football but before video games and multi channel TVs were available he spent his nights playing guitar. He played in several local bands after college and then teamed with Martha in 1992 to form the Blues Cats. Al has written about 15 of the Blues Cats original songs. A CD was completed in 1996 and a second was started but not yet completed. Al mostly plays Strat style guitars, Fenders and Suhrs but also plays Gibsons and a PRS on occasion. He uses Fender, Dr Z and Matchless amps. Currently he listens to players like Robben Ford, Scott Henderson, John Scofield, Greg Howe and anybody that’s taking the guitar to the edge.
